In 2024, the Southern Power Grid Company took the initiative to cope with the challenges of tight power supply and the difficulty of clean energy consumption, and took advantage of favorable opportunities such as water in major river basins being better than expected and new energy development, and by formulating measures to ensure supply, promote consumption and stabilize West-West Power, we will fully implement the West-East Power Transmission Strategy and promote the growth of electricity scale.


In 2024, the Guangzhou Electric Power Trading Center organized 165 monthly and monthly medium- and long-term power transactions across provinces and regions, an increase of 65% from the same period last year. This year, medium- and long-term transactions across provinces achieved continuous market opening for the first time, providing market entities with more opportunities for monthly plan adjustments, and fully playing the role of the "ballast stone" of medium- and long-term power transactions in the southern regional power market, which is conducive to the full utilization of short-term power surplus resources and better connection with the regional power spot market. In addition, the normal and effective operation of the power distribution to factory responsibility mechanism also effectively ensures the full implementation of the priority plan. From January to December, Yundian and Guizhou Power increased by 15.7 billion and 740 million kilowatt-hours respectively, an increase of 19.2% and 1.5% year-on-year.


　　At present, new energy has become the largest power supply for five southern provinces and regions, with an installed capacity exceeding 190 million kilowatts. Throughout 2024, the Southern Power Grid Company has sent a total of 23.6 billion kilowatt-hours of surplus clean electricity in the western region, helping to basically absorb clean energy in the southern region.

The Southern Power Grid Company focuses on the "three characteristics" characteristics of new energy and innovatively launched the pre-tendered power trading varieties of "pre-pricing and post-quantity" to solve the problem of "difficulty in advance and curve prediction" of new energy, absorb surplus wind power in Guangxi, and promote green energy transformation.

The Southern Power Grid Company actively integrates into the national power productivity layout and signs a strategic cooperation agreement on cross-domain DC transmission projects such as Tibet and Guangdong, laying the foundation for achieving a larger-scale resource allocation of West-to-East Power Transmission. At the same time, the utilization rate of West-to-East Power Transmission Channel has been continuously improved, and the operation and maintenance level of DC channels has reached the historical best. The DC return is locked 0.32 times, a year-on-year decrease of 58%, and the availability rate of DC comprehensive energy exceeded 97.5% for the first time.Next step
